Everyone has elders in their life; it could be parent, grandparents who live on their own, in their own home and have no interest in assisted living. Maybe you are a senior yourself and also have no wants to live in a nursing home, however, there is a realization that memory is slowing leaving and you are not as physically fit, something unexpected could occur and you want to be prepared. Senior technology is available to help seniors keep their independence and it also provide their families with security their loved one will be fine.

All types of technology for seniors are available depending on the needs of that individual. To help an elder keep balance, available to them are canes and a walker. Bones become fragile as we age and we don't act quickly enough then we lose balance and fall. A cane is a senior technology that will help because they can put their weight more so on that.

There are phones targeted for the elders to fit their needs. For example, the numbers may be larger and in addition to caller id there may be additional information provided such as the relationship the person has to the senior. As we age, our eyes and memory become worse and these extras make it easier for them.

Medication is common for elders to take. Sometimes, our elders are taking 15 different types of medication. That is difficult for someone in their 30s to remember which ones are to be taken and when and we expect elders to remember! A senior technology available that will remind elders when to take their meds is the pill dispenser or even an online medicine cabinet. These technologies for medicine will remind the elder what pill needs to be taken by lighting up the day of the week, or actually speaking the meds and time to take them. Some technologies are able contact someone if a pill is not taken within a time limit.

The senior technology available will help seniors live more of an independent life before considering an assisted living or nursing home. Sometimes it isn't time for our elders to be in a home yet, however something could happen at home and they can't get help. Today technologies are available that will ease a family member's mind that their elder is home alone. It also gives our elders some freedom and dignity to be on their own.
