The base is heavy enough to provide stability. The magnifier/light section is part of the adjustable "neck". It would be easier to use if the light section could be swiveled independently for more flexibility of use. Otherwise, it works well.

Does what it says. 95 year old is able to read the paper with it. Only down side to it is the base needs to be heavier. If you pull the light down to get it closer it tends to tip over due to top heavy.

Summary: "I'm a happy woman!!"
I have done needlepoint for most of my life. However, because my eyesight is not what it used to be, it reached the point where I couldn't see the holes in the canvas very well and ended up being very frustrated when I didn't get the desired results, not to mention the cost of the canvas and yarn. I saw the ad for the magnifier floor lamp and thought I would give it a try. Between the light itself and the magnifying effect, my work again looks professional. The lamp is very lightweight. I would recommend this lamp to anyone who does any type of needlecraft. It's wonderful!! And the price was very reasonable.
